Uber is launching today a new hardware called Uber beacon in select cities, starting in Miami, Denver, Nashville and Newcastle in the UK.
The idea of the project is to help riders to spot more easily their driver by sticking the beacon in the bottom corner of the windshield.
The objective is to improve the pick-ups's area, since avoiding miscommunication and confusion at that stage can result in much more efficient service overall.
Beacons are devices that broadcast a signal that can be heard by smart devices nearby connected to bluetooth. It enables an app, Apple Wallet Pass, Physical Web browsers, businesses to deliver contextually relevant content and information to users at very specific locations.
